The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army aims is to give you a helping hand so you are not dependent on government assistance and can gain a greater level of control over your life.  Providing short term accommodation options for families, alcohol and drug support, youth services, food parcels, transitional housing and more.

Ministry of Social Development

The Ministry of Social Development helps New Zealanders to be safe, strong and independent.

We work to provide:

  • employment, income support and superannuation services
  • funding to community service providers
  • student allowances and loans

Rural Support Trust

Sometimes you need to chat with someone who gets your issues, someone who’s been there before. Rural Support Trusts have local, rural people who know from experience that pressures can mount up. 


Their networks and training can help with all kinds of situations, and help you get through your current challenges.

Oranga Tamariki

Oranga Tamariki is a government organisation dedicated to supporting any child in New Zealand whose wellbeing is at significant risk of harm now, or in the future. Their   belief is that in the right environment, with the right people surrounding and nurturing them,
any child can and should flourish.  They also work with young people who may have offended, or are likely to offend.

Assistance available from Work and Income (WINZ) falls into three key areas: employment and training assistance, health and disability services and financial assistance. Head to their website for more information.



Mental Health Foundation

The Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand is a charity that works towards creating a society free from discrimination, where all people enjoy positive mental health & wellbeing. Improving individuals, whanau, organisations and communities.


Offering information and advice to improve wellbeing, suicide prevention and a providing a wide rather of support resources. 

Support Crew

Support Crew is a FREE online help roster that easily co-ordinates meals and support for family and friends in need. You can create a Support Page for yourself or someone else.  


Support Crew is for

  • anyone dealing with a life changing event – a Warrior.
  • their carer/caregiver/chief support person – a Support Chief.
  • their Support Crew – their support network (their friends, family, neighbours, colleagues and community) – no matter where in the world they might be.
  • their Healthcare Providers.
