When supporting someone who is working through grief, there are many ways to offer practical support, such as, running errands, cooking meals, cleaning the house, helping with childcare or pet care, providing transport to appointments or social outings, assistance with paperwork, phone calls, or organising logistics, delivering meals, helping with household chores or repairs, holding space, listening, validating, and offering ongoing support as and when they may need it.
Sometimes it's only once the dust settles that reality sets in and support with everyday tasks is needed & truly appreciated.
When someone is experiencing loss and grief, every day tasks quite often get put on the backburner. Why not offer to have someone come in to take care of the housework for a while? There are plenty of ways to offer practical support to a friend in need.
We know that saying or doing "the right thing" will look different for everyone.
This might website is just some of the many ways which might help you decide how you may show your support, but it's not exhaustive and we would love contributions & ideas from our community to share.
Please consider our other resources, or touch base with some suggestions and/or recommendations that we could add to our directory.
